Introduction
Comcover is the Australian Government’s self-managed insurance fund, and provides insurance and risk management services to Australian Government entities (Fund Members). Comcover is managed by the Department of Finance (Finance). Comcover handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988, including the Australian Privacy Principles and Australian Government Agencies Privacy Code 2017 as detailed in Finance’s Privacy Policy.
This page explains the types of personal information that is collected by Comcover to provide the Learning Centre, how such information is used, and under what circumstances and to whom information may be disclosed. Collection of Personal Information
Comcover collects your personal information when you create an account for the Comcover Learning Centre (CLC), and throughout your use of the CLC.
Comcover uses Janison Education Group (Janison) to host the CLC on servers based in Australia. Janison, collects clickstream data every time the learning centre is accessed. When you log onto the CLC, Janison’s server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information:
- the user's IP address;
- the user's top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk, etc);
- the date and time of visit to the site;
- the pages accessed and documents viewed;
- the type of operating system used; and
- the type of browser used.
Comcover and Janison collects this personal information and data in the course of providing access to, administering and managing Comcover’s education and training modules. Janison is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and its Privacy Policy.
Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
Comcover collects, uses and discloses personal information for the purpose of administering and managing Comcover’s education and training programs. Your information may also be used or disclosed for the following purposes:
- to provide access to education and training modules;
- to collect feedback and improve our services;
- to report on your usage and completion of learning modules to your employer;
- to communicate with you or your organisation;
- to comply with any necessary legal requirements.
Janison collects, uses and discloses personal information and data for the following purposes:
- to communicate with Comcover to the extent required to maintain services;
- to respond to enquiries and requests;
- to respond to helpdesk requests or other service requests;
- to communicate with you, Comcover, or your employer;
- to improve services;
- to provide access to learning and assessment systems;
- to maintain and update records;
- to assess the performance of the website and learning and assessment systems;
- to process and respond to privacy complaints; and
- to comply with any necessary legal requirements.
