  • pass a pre-employment medical and functional assessment

Security clearance

Successful applicants are required to

  • undergo a security clearance process via the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA), facilitated by the Department of Finance
  • complete an online security application, providing copies of personal documents, in the required timeframe.

Note: The AGSVA assessment can take up to six weeks to complete once all information is correctly submitted and applicants cannot undertake duties with COMCAR until the clearance is granted.

Pre-employment medical assessment

Given the physical nature of the work, including the requirements to handle client luggage, applicants will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical and functional assessment, which will include lifting 23 kilograms. Applicants must be assessed as ‘Fit to Perform the Role’ to progress through the recruitment process. There is no cost to applicants for the medical assessment, however, the cost of specialist, other medical referral or evidence required by the assessing medical provider is the responsibility of the applicant.

Note: Applicants will not be paid for the time attending the assessment.

Driver Training

Applicants will undertake a two-day driver training course as part of the recruitment process, the course cost is met by COMCAR. The course is conducted by an external Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and covers knowledge of basic road rules, road awareness and general driving skills. Applicants must achieve a ‘competent’ rating to progress through the recruitment process.

Note: Applicants will not be paid for the time attending the driver training.
