Windsor Walk closure and York Park Car Park changes
As planned and notified below, the north section of the York Park Car Park (276 spaces) closed with no access to the site on Monday 13 January 2025.
Early works required for the closure of Windsor Walk have now been completed and the closure of Windsor Walk will take effect from Monday 20 January 2025.
An update will be provided shortly regarding the status of the John Gorton Campus Car Park opening and York Park Car Park full closure which is planned for the end of January 2025.
Key dates:
Early work | Commenced on site on 15 November 2024. |
6 January 2025 | No major impacts to car parking. Fencing will be established to separate the southern section of the car park from the smaller northern section next to the York Park Oak plantation. |
13 January 2025 | Closure of the northern section of York Park (276 spaces) with no pedestrian or vehicle access from that date. Brisbane Avenue car parking remains available (440 spaces). |
20 January 2025 | Closure of Windsor Walk (92 spaces) with no pedestrian or vehicle access from that date. |
End January 2025 | Access to the Brisbane Avenue car parking (440 spaces) will remain available to the public until the opening of the John Gorton Campus Car Park, forecast in late January 2025. Upon opening of the John Gorton Campus Car Park, access to the York Park Car Park will be permanently closed. |

Changes to York Park and Windsor Walk car parks
The York Park car park will remain partially open (access via Brisbane Avenue) until its full closure for major construction works, anticipated by late January 2025.
Increased site activity is expected throughout January 2025, which will impact some parking availability during the school holiday period. Staged closure of the York Park and Windsor Walk car parks will enable progression of works while keeping the majority of parking spaces open until the opening of the John Gorton Campus Car Park.
Impacted users are encouraged to monitor this webpage for the latest information, in addition to exploring alternative parking and transport options early and allow more time for travel - especially when returning in the new year.

John Gorton Campus car park
The John Gorton Campus Car Park is anticipated to open in late January 2025. Finance is working with contractors to confirm the exact opening date and timing of access to parking onsite due to conditional factors, such as inclement weather and final approvals. Details of the opening date and arrangements will be shared with relevant agencies in advance and published on the NSOP project website.

Changes to York Park and Windsor Walk car parks
The Department of Finance (Finance) is leading the development of the National Security Office Precinct (the Precinct) in Barton, ACT. Lendlease is the Managing Contractor for the Precinct and is expected to commence early works from November 2024, with full site closure from early 2025.
The project site area comprises the York Park Car Park and Windsor Walk in Barton ACT.
Upcoming changes
Early site works will commence along Windsor Walk from 15 November 2024. The York Park Car Park will remain open (access via Brisbane Avenue) until the site is permanently closed for major construction works which are anticipated to commence in early 2025.

John Gorton Campus Car Park
The development of the John Gorton Campus Car Park is expected to be completed and open to the public in early 2025. The John Gorton Campus Car Park will provide over 1,000 car spaces in a multi-level car park, within close vicinity for nearby workers.
