Beta sourcing strategy framework
The Department of Finance is working to modernise records management in Australian Government agencies so that the valuable information created by agencies is easier to manage and re-use. Vendors are offering intuitive, automated and user-friendly solutions, and this work aims to allow agencies to consider these solutions to better meet their information management needs.
These approaches to market seek to bring end-users to the fore of the procurement decision making process by engaging them in proofs of concept with shortlisted vendors. End-users will be part of a multi-disciplinary procurement team to evaluate vendor’s products through live proofs of concept. The Initiative resources agencies to support these proofs of concept.
This unique approach to sourcing arose from the co-design of the Initiative with vendors and agencies, undertaken at the Digital Transformation Agency. Informed by that co-design:
- the program supports small innovative vendors to enter the government market; and
- ensures that both end-users and information management professionals have input into the selection of tools.
