Late last year the Government released the Net Zero in Government Operations Strategy and Roadmap, a key step to achieve the APS Net Zero by 2030 target. The Strategy outlines the necessary actions, targets, and measures to reduce emissions from Australian Government operations.
To support this commitment, the Climate Action in Government Operations unit at Finance is promoting a capability uplift across the Australian Public Service (APS).
Among several initiatives, various introductory training modules will be offered on APS Learn, including:
- Foundations of Net Zero in Government Operations
- Net Zero – Buildings
- Net Zero – Energy
- Net Zero – Reporting
- Net Zero – Procurement
- Introduction to Commonwealth Climate Disclosure
The Foundations of Net Zero in Government Operations course is now available through APS Learn and has been designed for participants who have a role or interest in implementation of the Net Zero in Government Operations Strategy.
Finance will also work with an accredited provider to develop two greening government microcredentials under the APS Capability Reinvestment Fund. These microcredentials are expected to be released by 30 June 2025.
