DATA AND DIGITAL MINISTERS’ MEETING
COMMUNIQUÉ
24 SEPTEMBER 2021

Ministers met today by videoconference to continue strong collaboration on data and digital transformation.

The following Ministers attended the meeting:

  • The Hon Stuart Robert MP (Commonwealth)
  • The Hon Victor Dominello MP (New South Wales)
  • The Hon Danny Pearson MP (Victoria)
  • The Hon Leeanne Enoch MP (Queensland)
  • Mr Chris Steel MLA (Australian Capital Territory)
  • The Hon Paul Kirby MLA (Northern Territory)

Data and Digital Ministers are working at pace to deliver key elements of the National Plan to Transition Australia’s National COVID-19 Response (National Plan) and support reopening the economy.

Records of COVID-19 vaccination status

Fully vaccinated Australians can download a COVID-19 vaccination status record through myGov or the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.  Data and Digital Ministers are working to provide an easy and secure way for citizens to show their vaccination status when entering a venue by using their existing state or territory check-in app.  This will support easing of restrictions and economic recovery.

Home quarantine

Ministers discussed cooperation across jurisdictions to expand home quarantine trials for fully vaccinated Australians. The New South Wales and Commonwealth governments are launching a home quarantine pilot in Greater Sydney next month, as New South Wales transitions towards opening up international borders. This is in addition to home quarantine trials already underway in South Australia.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) Data Streamlining

Ministers noted work to modernise the system for collection, sharing and use of VET data so that it flows in near real time and is responsive to change.
