Seamless digital identity for Australians

A nationally consistent approach to digital identity remains a high priority for ministers. A consistent approach to digital identity will make it easier for the Australian public to interact online across a wide range of digital services, regardless of the jurisdiction they live in or the service they are accessing. Work is continuing between the Commonwealth, states and territories to make this a reality.

Vaccination certificates

Ministers noted updates on the Commonwealth rollout of digital proof of vaccination, which citizens can already access through myGov and the Medicare Express Plus app. Enhancements to the Immunisation History Statement make proof of COVID-19 vaccination clear and easy to access for individuals who have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Ministers noted this is an important step in the continued re-opening of Australia’s economy.

Data sharing

Ministers discussed development of the intergovernmental agreement to support national data sharing between governments. The intergovernmental agreement, once settled by ministers, will be considered by National Cabinet.
