Finance recently hosted a welcome session for 130 school leavers from across the service who chose to get a head start in their careers through the 2025 Australian Government School Leaver Program.
The 2025 cohort were welcomed by a range of speakers and heard from a panel of School Leaver alumni who shared their experiences and advice.
The panel encouraged the new cohort to keep an open mind and explore every opportunity available to them in the program, use it as a foundation to build their skills and confidence, and network as much as they can. Each of the panel members shared the capabilities that they developed in the program, which included organisational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
School leavers can apply for a job in one of the following areas:
- Human Resources
- Customer and Service Delivery
- programs project or policy
- professional and technical areas.
Upon successful completion of the program, school leavers are offered ongoing employment and advancement to APS2 level.
