It’s been a big year for data and digital technologies in government since release of the Data and Digital Government Strategy back in December 2023.
Some key highlights include:
- People can now easily complete Commonwealth statutory declarations in minutes using myGov for things like insurance or superannuation claims, regardless of whether they are in urban or remote areas.
- People can access My Health Record letters in their myGov inbox and store government cards, such as Medicare and Veteran cards, in a digital wallet in the myGov app.
- It’s now easier for anyone to explore, analyse and visualise government data in the Digital Atlas of Australia, without needing specialist geospatial skills or capabilities.
- We became one of the first governments worldwide to trial the use of AI to improve how we work and engage with the public.
Within the APS we are using data and digital technologies in innovative ways every day, and some key examples were recently recognised at the 2024 APS Data Awards.
