The Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS) is a whole‑of‑government system used to manage parliamentary records across the Australian Government. It connects agencies with Parliament through a single, secure environment.
PDMS supports agencies and ministerial offices to manage parliamentary tasks in a consistent and reliable way. It improves visibility of work and helps ensure parliamentary business is handled appropriately, enabling staff to focus on their core priorities.
The system supports a range of work up to the PROTECTED security classification, including:
- Ministerial correspondence, briefings and submissions
- Parliamentary Questions on Notice
- Senate Estimates briefings and Questions on Notice
- Executive-level communications
- Parliamentary inquiries, general communications and media tasks
Since it was introduced in 2013, PDMS has expanded significantly. It now supports:
- More than 70 government agencies
- Around 45,000 active users each week
- Over 250,000 registered users
- More than 400,000 new records each year
PDMS supports accountable and consistent management of parliamentary business, helping maintain strong governance across the public service.
