Procurement Coordinator
On 28 July 2009, the former Minister for Finance and Deregulation, the Hon. Lindsay Tanner, released the 'Australian Government Procurement Statement' [
] which identified a number of measures related to the Government's procurement framework. These included the creation of the position of Procurement Coordinator.
The Procurement Coordinator assists the business community in matters relating to procurement activities conducted by the Australian Government.
The roles and responsibilities of the Procurement Coordinator are:
- providing external parties with an understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement framework;
- handling of certain complaints;
- monitoring issues related to Australian Government procurement; and
- reporting to the Minister for Finance and Deregulation on procurement matters.
