Training, Networking and Study Opportunities
We understand that this may be your first full-time job, so will provide you with a lot of support as you transition from study to work.
As a Career Starter you will participate in a 12-month development program, comprising of training, forums and networking events designed to equip you with skills and knowledge to become an effective Finance employee.
Training
The training courses, designed to assist in developing your career within Finance and the Australian Public Service, will cover topics such as orientation into Finance, writing skills, business skills, team building, communication, and application and interview skills.
Networking and Support
The Career Starter Program includes opportunities for you to network with members of your own cohort, through forums and different activities including a tour of Parliament House.
You will also have the opportunity to be paired with a buddy, to help you find your way around work, as well as a mentor to provide you with advice and guidance on your career.
Undergraduate Study Program
You have the opportunity to study part-time while you work, to gain a qualification in a degree relevant to your work in the Department. We will support you financially and you will also be eligible to take up to 6 hours of paid study leave per week.
If you don't have the right ATAR for your chosen degree you can undertake bridging courses which will then be credited towards your degree.
