Analysis for Excel

About the Course

This course introduces a user to the Analysis for Excel tool – an add-in for Microsoft Excel, which enables the creation of reports from CBMS data (Estimates and Actuals only) in an Excel environment.

Learning Outcomes

  • Overview of Analysis for Excel
  • How to create a Report
  • Create your own report
Eligibility

This course is only available to staff from the Department of Finance and The Treasury who have completed the prerequisite eLearning courses.

It will be useful to staff who are required to report and analyse CBMS data from the Estimates and Actuals components, and whose needs are not met by the standard reports available in CBMS.

Prerequisites

CBMS Overview eLearning; at least one other eLearning or ILT module.

Cost of the Course

All CBMS courses are provided free of charge. However, if notice of non-attendance is not received at least 24 hours before course commencement, the participant’s entity may be charged a cost-recovery fee of $550. Due to high demand for training, and limited resources and time, it is important for a participant to advise Finance as soon as they are aware that they cannot attend, to allow their place in the course to be reallocated (from a waiting list). Sickness is excepted, but please advise Finance that you, or your staff member, is not available to attend due to sickness on the day.

About the Course

This course introduces a user to the Annual Actuals component of CBMS, and covers key activities, workflow and legal requirements within the context of the Budget Process.

This course introduces a user to the Annual Estimates component of CBMS, and covers basic data entry of estimates adjustments, the approval workflow and reporting, within the context of the Budget Process.

About the Course

This course introduces a user to the Cash Management module of CBMS, and covers sources of appropriation, drawdowns, receipts, and journals, appropriation adjustments, entering a Cash Forecast and reporting within the context of the Budget Process.

CBMS for AAU

About the Course

This course introduces Agency Advice Unit (AAU) participants to the role and function of CBMS specifically in the context of AAU requirements. The course can be run as a half day session or as three separate 60-90 minute sessions. The course includes the validation process for Annual Estimates Adjustments, Cash Flow and Appropriation Adjustment approval processes and an overview of additional reporting capabilities.

Learning Outcomes

Topics covered in this course include:

· Session 1 – Validation Process - Estimate Adjustments

· Session 2 – Approval Processes - Cash Flow Adjustments and Appropriation Adjustments

· Session 3 – Introduction to Reporting and Analysis

Eligibility

This course is available to Agency Advice Unit participants who have completed the prerequisite eLearning courses.

Elearning Sessions

About the Course

These sessions provide a training room for participants to complete their eLearning. We know that it can be difficult to complete eLearning courses at your desk, due to interruptions, work and other distractions. The sessions will have a supervisor who will be able to assist you and answer any questions (either immediately or on notice).

User Defined Reporting

About the Course

This course introduces a user to User Defined Reporting within CBMS with data from the Estimates and Actuals components, and covers the process of creating your own report.

  • SAP WEBI Overview and Navigation
  • Creating a User-Defined Report
Eligibility

This course is available to users who require access to create their own reports in CBMS for Estimates and Actuals, and have completed the prerequisite eLearning courses – CBMS Overview and one other Estimates or Actuals course. User Defined Reporting cannot be restricted to data for a particular CBMS component, so only agency staff who are permitted to access data for all Estimates and Actuals components should request access to this function and attend training.

Prerequisites

CBMS Overview eLearning; at least one other eLearning or ILT module.

Please note that although CBMS training is provided free of charge, there is a charge of $550.00 (including GST) for non-attendance where:

  • a notice of at least 24 hours in advance of the training course; or
  • a substitute to attend in your place
