The consistent implementation of protective markings and BlackBerry devices will increase the security of all government email, including that routed to BlackBerry devices. Guidance has been developed by the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO), in conjunction with Defence Signals Directorate (DSD), to support Australian Government agencies in determining the use of BlackBerry devices and, where allocated, to enable officers to understand their responsibilities. The guidance complements advice issued by DSD in July 2005 and clearly states the requirements for implementing BlackBerry devices in an agency's environment.
