The Report assesses the need for information and communications technology (ICT) skills within government and provides a list of recommendations aimed at improving the recruitment, retention and development of ICT specialists in the APS.
The Department of Finance and Administration (Finance) convened an ICT Professional and Skills Development Taskforce (the Taskforce) in October 2005 in response to the Management Advisory Committee (MAC) report number five, Managing and Sustaining the Australian Public Service (APS) Workforce, issued in October 2005.
The report outlines initiatives identified by the Australian Government’s information and communications technology (ICT) Professional and Skills Development Taskforce and ICT Skills Roundtable, aimed at improving the recruitment, retention and development of ICT specialists in the APS.
The report provides a set of recommendations for immediate attention in the areas of:
