Social Network of Graduates

The Social Network of Graduates (SNoG) is an external non-profit organisation, run by graduates for graduates, established over 10 years ago.

The SNoG aims to connect graduates of the APS in Canberra through various activities and events. It is designed to help graduates, especially those from outside of Canberra, to meet new people and familiarise themselves with Canberra.

Throughout the year, SNoG organises activities and social events for its members such as sports and recreation, the SNoG ball and a trivia night. Whether you enjoy running up and down the netball court, showing your mental prowess at trivia, trawling Canberra's bars and clubs or simply just meeting new people - SNoG provides something for everyone.

SNoG is run solely by new graduates and Finance will cover the cost of the membership. For further information see: http://www.snog.orac.net.au/ [External Site] .

About the Orientation and Graduate Development Programs

Finance graduates are offered an 11 month development program structured to equip them with the skills and knowledge to undertake their role and underpin their future careers within Finance and the broader Australian Public Service. The Program also provides our graduates with an opportunity to build a strong network with their fellow graduates to support them through their APS career.

The Program starts with a series of half-day orientation sessions, followed by training activities and networking events throughout the year. The structure and content is designed to complement on-the-job training within each of Finance's Business Groups.

The Graduate Development Program addresses four key areas in which graduates need to have an understanding of:

As well as learning about the role of each of Finance's Business Groups and the services they provide, Finance graduates have a chance to meet with the Secretary of Finance and one of the Finance Ministers and attend question time in the House of Representatives.
