To be employed as a COMCAR driver you must:
- be an Australian Citizen
- hold or be willing to obtain a security clearance
- undergo a national police check
- undergo a medical assessment
- hold a valid Australian unrestricted driver’s licence
- pass driver training
Please note: Permanent residence applicants do not qualify to apply.
Inability to meet the eligibility criteria will impact the decision regarding engagement of a driver.
Successful applicants will be required to complete an online security clearance application and provide certified copies of personal documents directly to the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). The checking required to grant a security clearance cannot begin until both the online application and the hardcopy documents have been received by AGSVA.
The accreditation process consists of a number of stages including gathering an individual’s information, verification and approvals.
The security clearance process can take up to six weeks to complete.
National Police Check
Suitable applicants that have been successfully selected for interview will be required to have a National Police Check. The National Police Check must be no more than one month prior to the interview date.
Given the physical nature of the work, including the requirements to handle client luggage, applicants will be required to undertake a medical assessment, which will include lifting 23 kilograms. The cost of obtaining a medical assessment will be met by Kelly Services. The cost of specialist or other medical referral or evidence required by the assessing medical provider is the responsibility of the applicant.
Do I need specific qualifications and experience to become a COMCAR Driver?
A valid Australian unrestricted driver’s licence is mandatory, with both manual and automatic licences accepted.
No prior experience or specific qualifications are necessary, although a sound knowledge of road rules is desirable. COMCAR will provide driver training prior to engagement, which must be passed prior to being offered work.
Please Note: You will be required to sign a statutory declaration stating that your licence is current, and has not been suspended or revoked.
I hold a P plate drivers licence can I still apply for a driver’s role?
No. An unrestricted driver’s licence is mandatory.
